Across the African savanna, a large pack of African wild dogs faces a series of dangerous encounters. The pack first surrounds an elephant mother and her newborn calf, forcing the mother to defend her young with powerful trunk swings and repeated charges. Later, the wild dogs encounter a monitor lizard and use coordinated attacks from different directions to wear down its defense.

Their journey continues to a small river, where the pack hesitates before crossing from one bank to the other. Beneath the water, a hidden crocodile watches silently and suddenly pulls down the final dog during the crossing, leaving the rest of the pack alarmed on the shore.

Meanwhile, a mother wild dog stays with her four 3-month-old pups near their den as a clan of spotted hyenas approaches. She leads the pups away, but the hyenas eventually surround them near the river. The mother fights to protect all four pups until the larger wild dog pack arrives and clashes with the hyenas. After a fierce confrontation, the hyenas retreat and the pack finally moves away from the river together.
